The reports indicate that iPhone 8 will be made of iPhone 4 style stainless steel frame and have a full glass look. The Digitimes report states that Apple will use a stainless steel frame to hold together glass panels along the lines of the iPhone 4 design. The Digitimes report is stating what was earlier stated in a KGI note in April of last year, supported by subsequent reports from Foxconn. Sir Jonathan Paul “Jony” Ive who is the Chief Design Officer (CDO) of Apple Inc. and responsible for iPhone designing is said to working on a ‘single slab of glass’ look for the iPhone. The new full glass Apple iPhone 8 will embed the Home button and Touch ID sensor into the display in a near bezel-free design. The report also indicates that the rear side of iPhone 8 would also be fully glass. Apple is also said to be working on a fully Jeg Black glossy black iPhone 8 after the apparent success of Jet Black iPhone 7. The jury is however divided whether iPhone 8 will feature a curved screen or a flat-sided design along the lines of the iPhone 4 and 5, and revisited with the iPhone SE. Some reports suggest that a curved screen might be offered only in a top-tier model. By using glass for iPhone 8, Apple is also looking at providing long-distance wireless charging for buyers. The iPhone 8 release date is also suspect with some reports suggesting the above iPhone being a tenth-anniversary special launch. While others have dismissed this on the basis that Apple hasn’t historically paid much attention to product anniversaries, it is notable that the company is making more of a deal of this particular anniversary. The consensus view on Wall Street is that the iPhone 8 will generate a ‘super-cycle,’ exceeding sales of the first larger-screened models, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
