The 11th gen Intel Core S-series desktop processors are engineered on the new architecture, called Cypress Cove, which are designed to transform hardware and software efficiency and increase raw gaming performance. The new architecture brings up to 19% gen-over-gen instructions per cycle (IPC) improvement and up to 50% better integrated graphics performance with Intel UHD graphics featuring Intel Xe graphics architecture. The Rocket Lake-S family takes advantage of Intel Deep Learning Boost and Vector Neural Network Instructions to accelerate artificial intelligence (AI) inference, which will hugely improve performance for deep learning workloads. It also introduces new overclocking tools and features for more flexible tuning to achieve unmatched speeds and superior game performance. This generation includes real-time memory overclocking which enables changes to DDR4 frequency in real-time, extending memory overclocking support for H570 and B560 chipsets allowing users to experience overclocking, Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) 2 and AVX-512 voltage guard band override, and an all new integrated memory controller with wider timings and Gear 2 support (in addition to Gear 1 support). The new 11th gen Intel Core S-series also includes DDR4-3200 MHz support, 20 PCIe 4.0 lanes, Intel Quick Sync Video, enhanced media (10bit AV1/12bit high-efficiency video coding decode and end-to-end compression), enhanced display (Integrated HDMI 2.0, HBR3 for up to three simultaneous 4K HDR displays at 60Hz), 1 integrated USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20G), Intel Optane memory H20 with SSD support, Thunderbolt 4 (discrete USB4 compliant) and Intel Wi-Fi 6E support. The 11th gen Rocket Lake-S series family will be led by Intel Core i9-11900K, which has 8 cores and 16 threads with a single-core Thermal Velocity boost of 5.3GHz. Further, the 11th gen Core i5 chips will have 6 cores and 12 threads, while the Core i7 will have 8 cores and 16 threads. The Core i9-11900K has a base frequency of 3.5GHz, while the Core i7-11700K has a base clock of 3.7GHz and the Core i5-11600K has a base frequency of 3.9GHz. The Rocket Lake-S series processors will start shipping on March 30th. The flagship Core i9-11900K will cost $539, while the i7-11700K and i5-11600K will cost $399 and $262 respectively.
