As a result, Facebook has announced it will soon roll out a feature that lets a user turn off Live Video notifications. According to Facebook, the users will not be flooded with the alerts by default for much longer as the ability to turn off Live Video notifications is on the way “soon”, reported Engadget. “We have heard from people that they don’t want to miss live videos from the people or Pages they care about, so we may send a notification if someone you’ve recently interacted with is going live, in case you want to tune in,” a Facebook spokesperson was quoted as saying. “However, we know people want more control over the live notifications they receive, so we’re working on improving this experience. We are starting to roll out a new setting that lets people turn off all live notifications, through their Notifications settings, that will be available to all people soon,” the spokesperson added. So, the next time you get a live notification, click the upside-down caret in the top-right corner of the notifications box. A pop-up menu will give you the option to “turn off live video notifications” from that friend or Page. You can use the same technique to get rid of other repeating alerts, such as notifications of friends’ birthdays. Unfortunately, this only works for that page whereas the update will allow you to turn off the alerts for all Live Videos. Facebook said last week that it would allow users to disable all live video notifications using the Settings menu, but the option hasn’t appeared yet.
