The new discount is effective on all 500GB drive versions, which will also come with a controller and Gears of War, Ultimate Edition. Microsoft also dropped the price of 1TB Xbox One consoles to $299. The discounts are available in the US for a “limited time,” said a Microsoft spokeswoman.
However, according to the small print on the Microsoft Store, the first-gen Xbox One will be available for $279 until October 1. At the conference, Microsoft also announced that the Xbox One S Launch Edition with a 2TB harddrive will go on sale this summer priced at $399. However, the Microsoft Store currently states that it will be released on August 31. It is also said that two more affordable models – a 1TB version priced at $349, and a 500GB model for $299 is expected to go on sale later.
