Half of 2016 has passed and the mobile benchmarking website, AnTuTu has released its index for 10 most popular smartphones in the first half of 2016. The website shows top 10 indexes with handsets from all over the world, thus highlighting which are the devices the market is most interested in. The first index that AnTuTu has released regards the top 10 most popular smartphones in the World during the first six months of 2016. There are no surprises as to the number one phone on this list. Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with 7.82% ranking leads the pack. The second smartphone in the list is Samsung Galaxy S6, followed by Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and Galaxy S7. The fifth smartphone is Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, followed by Galaxy S7 edge, Meizu MX5, LG G3, LeEco 1S, and Meizu Metal. It is surprising that Samsung’s latest Galaxy S7 falters behind its earlier predecessor, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The website also reveals the 10 most popular smartphones in the US during the first six months of 2016. Most handsets in the index are manufactured by Samsung, with the Galaxy Note 5 ranking first, followed by the Note 4, Nexus 6P, and Nexus 6. Galaxy S6 and S7 ranked fifth and sixth, followed by Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy S6 edge, OnePlus and Nexus 5X. AnTuTu Chinese popularity Index is filled with various handsets made by Chinese manufacturers and is led by Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, followed by Samsung Galaxy S7 and LeEco 2. Huawei Mate 8 has also made it in the index and ranked seventh, followed by Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. AnTuTu’s Index for India is a bit of concern for Samsung. After ruling the Indian markets for so many years, it seems to have fallen to the wayside to the likes of Xiaomi, OnePlus, LeEco and Lenovo. As one the fastest growing economies in the world, India offers a huge untapped base to the mobile manufacturers and Samsung top honchos need to put their thinking cap on for India. It was to be expected for Samsung to be the most popular smartphone manufacturer in this index, considering that the South Korean company is one of the two top handset manufacturers in the US.
